Dog Walking, Out and About in the Woking Area

Happy Dog

Dog walking is something that every member of the family can enjoy and it is completely free. It is very important to give your dog the right amount of exercise, so for puppies The Kennel Club recommend a ratio of five minutes exercise per month of age (up to twice a day) until the puppy is fully grown. After this your dog can go out for much longer walks.

There is no substitute for a proper walk, letting your dog take exercise their senses as well as their bodies. A good walk will help tone their muscles, help their metabolic system to work properly and engage their minds. Breeds in the hunting, working or herding groups, for example Labrador Retrievers, Collies and Shepherds, will need the most exercise. Use the Kennel Club’s Breed Information Centre to find out about how much exercise your particular dog needs.

Without proper physical activity your dog will get bored and frustrated and unhealthy. At the end of your walk your dog should be happily tired but not exhausted. Why not mix one of your dog walks with one of our Treasure Trails, most of the trails have areas where your dog can play and run around and it will make it fun for you and your dog.

Happy Walking.
