Ready for a Challenge? Why not find and cycle along all of the Woking ‘Planet Trails‘ this year? Not only will you get to visit areas of the town that you might never have seen before, but it will get you out and about in the fresh air, enjoying some exercise and maybe make new friends along the way. Download our ‘Planet Trails’ checklist and break it into chunks and shake it up this year.
The trails are called Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars (Deimos, Phobos), Jupiter (Europa, Ganymede), Saturn (Hyperion, Pandora, Rhea, Titan), Neptune (Triton), Pluto, (Ceres, Ariel, Oberon).
Woking was granted Cycling Town status in 2009 and received funding and support to build a cycling network with the goal of increasing the use of bicycles in the borough. A joint venture between Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council resulted in ‘Cycle Woking’ being created with £1.82M of funding. Cycle Woking was in existence from 2008 to 2011 when project funding ceased.
The result of this collaboration was the formation of a collection of designated cycle routes in the Woking area, called the ‘Planet Trails’. These trails were named after the planets in the solar system, along with their moons and are marked with coloured signposts along key routes in and out of Woking.
