What3Words – The app that has saved lives and it’s FREE to install

We came across a FREE smartphone app called ‘What3Words’ and thought it was worth a mention. What3words is a simple way to talk about location. Each 3 metre square in the entire world is assigned a unique 3 word address that never changes. So for example ///filled.count.soap marks the exact entrance to the what3words’ London headquarters. Words are so much easier to say, share and even remember than the conventional GPS longitude and latitude grid references so it makes perfect sense to adopt this idea.

51.520847, -0.19552100 ←→ ///filled.count.soap

Or one 3 metre grid in Woking’s Jubilee Square translates to ‘origin.sculpture.brings’, which actually seems quite apt https://what3words.com/origin.sculpture.brings

There could be many uses for this system, from just telling a friend your exact location to actually saving lives. Police have urged everyone to download this smartphone app they say has already saved several lives. Why wait, download the app now for Apple iPhone or Google Android.
