What’s Hot in St John’s, that would be a ‘Fired Frog’

Fired Frog Pottery Cafe

There is a new species of frog in town and it has been discovered in St John’s, adjacent to Kiln Bridge, near the Basingstoke Canal. It’s name, the ‘Fired Frog Pottery Cafe’, a purpose built pottery and painting studio. Here you will find a variety of creative and fun experiences to take part in which are available for all age groups.

We decided to visit and chose to opt for a pottery painting experience. We were greeted with a warm smile from the co-founder, a very friendly Lou, who couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere was very relaxed and informal, the shop was full of delightfully hand decorated products, printed plates and an array of ceramic blanks to chose from to start your own bespoke artist creation. What made it unique was that all the ceramics were skilfully hand painted, no two the same. Tables were carefully laid out with sets of paints, brushes, water bowl and a cute little frog for holding a sponge.

Our host was a consummate professional, despite being worked off her feet, nothing was too much trouble. Help or advice was just a moment away. Lou was extremely friendly and encouraging and she had a genuine natural rapport with children and adults alike.

The highly enjoyable afternoon flew by and we have no doubt Fired Frog will leap from strength to strength. Good luck for the future.
