Watching the fish basking in sun along the Basingstoke Canal

Fisherman - Basingstoke Canal

The warmer weather is certainly popular with the fish in the Basingstoke Canal, they love swimming near the surface when the sun is out. It is very easy to stand on the bank, watching the water and for the fish to swim by. If you stand by the edge where the water is clearer you can see smaller fish glide by through the plants growing there. The canal is home to a large number of fish along the 32 mile stretch. The larger fish range from carp, tench, bream to the smaller fish, such as chub, roach and perch. A plentiful supply of fish to keep anglers and nature happy.
